Lunch is here!
In June 2013 a pair of house wrens settled into a nesting box at the end of my vegetable garden. They tended the nest and raised their family of youngsters, ignoring me as I worked in the garden. Once the eggs hatched I enjoyed watching the parents take turns bringing a variety of food for the youngsters. Their devotion was boundless, and it seemed like they were on duty 24/7. As the youngsters grew I watched them from a distance, waiting for the moment when they finally left the nest. I managed to catch this one being fed, and just moments after I took this photo the little guy fledged. Nature at its finest, right in my own backyard.
