Snowflakes

Yesterday the juncos were really active at our feeder. It was still snowing from the night before and created quite the mood as the little birds were feeding and seemingly playing in the snow. Every once in a while a scrub jay would come in and the juncos would disappear in a panic only to reappear as soon as it left.

 

It was quite fun for me as I sipped a hot cup of coffee from the warmth of our great room and snapped away through the window into the cold. It was about as perfect of a morning as you can have (at least it was for me!). As I was going through my images I noticed the two perfectly formed snowflakes on this one's back. About 5 seconds and a few frames later they were melting and then disappeared.

 

This little guy was 10 to 12 feet away from my camera. It is mind blowing to me the resolution of todays cameras and lenses.

 

I hope the viewer can see the detail in the snowflakes as it is really pretty cool. Try pressing "L" on your keyboard to make it a bit bigger.
