A hard target. This is the panel for a security alarm system. These systems are used as a medium of prevention concerning crimes along the lines of breaking & entering or burglary. Through the use of contact switches, unauthorized entry (that is to say, entry by someone who does not know the proper code to disarm the system) trips the alarm, notifying authorities if the system is not disarmed within a set period. The rather loud nature of the alarm also alerts those in the immediate vicinity and serves to scare off any potential trespasser.
