Pillars from a bygone era

The pillars you can see in the picture used to be the foundation for one of the largest saw mills in this region of Sweden a couple of hundred years ago. It also used to be the major source of income for people living there. About 150 years ago the saw mill went bankrupt when modern saw mills driven by steam took over the competition. Since then the pillars have been standing there as a monument of a bygone era.

 

I took this shot with three different exposures and fused them in photomatix pro. I also used a little editing of light and clarity in Lightroom.
