West Hump Wednesdays

CSX yard service SD40-2 2431 pulls a cut of cars over the hump in Cumberland, Maryland nearly two decades ago. On my first trips to Sand Patch a decade prior, my father and I watched a worn-out C&O SD35 on a drab December day. PSR has eliminated much of Cumberland's prior role in CSX's manifest classification process and it's highly unlikely you'll ever see standard cab EMDs humping cars here ever again. Back in 2004 though? I was probably just trying to squeeze off one more daylight image and the vista overlooking the bracket mast CPLs that identify this as Baltimore & Ohio territory was a tried-and-true spot. I don't think you'll see an untagged Chessie 86 footer trackside again either!
