Sachet bags

Here is another source of water that many in Buduburam drink. There are 20 pint-sized bags of water inside these larger sacks and people buy them for pennies and then bite off one corner and drink. The bags usually end up on the ground, since "don't litter" is an alien concept in West Africa. The camp is an odd combination of resourcefulness - they built houses essentially from mud - and incredibly poor ideas - like peeing three feet from your front door. But that's what happens when there is nowhere else to do it.
