Take what you believe will be the final series of photographs before you die — Nick Brandt
I chose to focus on a general theme of mortality throughout the month - and thus approached the world with an even more morbid outlook than usual. Since I don't believe in an afterlife, when I die and the regency of my consciousness of myself and the world is lost to me forever - it is effectively the end of the world (or so I believe).
In this shot, promoting an anti-aging cream (to make up, to pretend, to hide the signs of aging and death), I found the model's smile faltering. So I focused up close on it - the poster is on an uneven surface too, which gave it the look of being patched-up.
