Volume 2 Issue 6.1 - The Wonder of Revenge Part 1
The sound of running water filled the air as Dani splashed some cold liquid on her face. Still in shock from this afternoons meeting she had to go straight to the female toilets to calm herself. She’d just been put in control of one of the biggest companies in the city; scrap that, one of the biggest companies in the world. Dani didn’t know whether she should happy or throwing up in the toilet directly behind her. How could she run a multi-million dollar company at her age, those board members looked ancient, she was still just a girl. She wasn’t qualified, had no past work experience apart from hanging around in her dads offices waiting for him to finish. This was so far out of her comfort zone she felt like crying. How was she supposed to be the Iron Fist and run this company? How was she supposed to save her father if she was buried in paperwork? She kept thinking there’s no way that she would ever be able to balance her life between crime fighting and work. Luckily her control over the company starts in thirty days so she has about a month to work out a way to balance things. Could she balance things though? What if she takes over the company and it fails, will every one be disappointed? Will her father be disappointed? It is his company after all. That’s when she realised, if she could save her father before she has to take over her company, he could come back and run it instead of her. Dani splashed more water on her face, a if she realised how ludicrous that plan was. She’d been back from K’un Lun for a while now and she was no closer to saving her father than when she left. A tear rolled down her face as she remembered her father, memories flooded back and she felt like she was going to break down. Luckily her phone beeped distracting her thoughts. She wiped the tears from her eyes and read the message on her phone. It was from Stephen. It read: ‘Victor is all-fine, I ran a check up on him and his vitals are a-ok. It seems that when the explosion was set off at his flat it released some sort of chemical that mutated his exterior skin. Whenever his body is under threat his body will release some chi energy, much like your Iron Fist energy, to protect him from harm. Long story short, his skin is impermeable to anything, no bullet will break his skin. Thank you for bringing him to me, look after him Dani, but more importantly look after yourself. I sense something terrible is afoot for all of us. Stephen.’ Reading this made Dani completely forget her previous thoughts as she began to process the message. She better get home and check in on Victor, see if he’s okay. Dani dried her face and strode out of the toilet with her head held high, just as her dad would’ve wanted her to....
