today was yet another awful hot, heavy day

and yet here was this genteel looking old gent

walking lightly & briskly through the south side

looking as if the first breeze of spring filled

his mind & body

dancing 'round him

spirit-born.

 

nothing spectacular, snappy

nothing fancy, bright, snazzy

just

simple

clean

clear.

 

i followed for a few blocks

but honest to goodness

i really couldn't keep up.

 

it sounds corny,

but i would like to imagine him

as a good man

50 years younger

and i whatever similar age

meeting

also afoot light as air
