West Shore (Chenango Branch) Rails
These rails may be the last to remain of the West Shore's Chenango Branch. Originally The Syracuse & Chenango Valley Railroad, it was later acquired by the New York Central Railroad. It ran from Syracuse to its southernmost terminus at Earlville, NY, where it interchanged with the O & W RR. The line was abandoned in pieacemeal between the late 1930's and early 1980's. Photo taken at Fisher Road, East Syracuse, NY. The West shores mainline also crossed Fisher Rd. just north of here, but I was usucessful at finding the ROW from the road . I was only able to find a few overgrown sections along rt. 290.
