Playing with the Old manual Vivitar 135mm 2.8
The lens was made from 1971-1976 and does a nice job on the Canon 5DII with a M42 screw-mount adapter.
Working on my theory that the 135mm lens is one of those magical focal lengths and nobody ever made a bad 135mm...
(after trying a 1960's TELE-LENTAR yesterday I may have to revise my theory...)
The old Vivitar is much smaller and faster than my go-to lens the 70-200 f4. A big advantage for these baseball shots is the ability for it to fit between the chain link, the 70-200 does not.
I have been looking at Canon's EF 135 f2 for a bit now. However with the fine shots I am getting with the little Vivitar it is kind of hard to justify the high price of the Canon lens near $1000....
However I may be able to talk myself into it for taking indoor volleyball and basketball shots...
