2014 October 8 ~ Total Eclipse of the Moon

Photographed from Iona, Ontario, Canada (40 km west of London)

 

In this view, just after the start of the total phase, the Moon is gliding through the north part of Earth's shadow. The darker central part of the umbral shadow is toward the bottom. A 5.8 magnitude star, just barely bright enough to be visible to the unaided eye, appears at far right.
