Twenty to Ten

The history of firework displays from Edinburgh Castle is thought to date back to the early 1500's. Firework displays were commissioned by the monarchs for special occasions. Coincidentally, we were there for the closing day of the Fringe Festival and the Fireworks Celebration. Both the Fringe festival and this annual fireworks celebration are considered to be the largest in the world. The show was spectacular - lasting for an hour, accompanied by gorgeous classical music. This shot was taken from Calton Hill, on a cold and windy night, with plenty of little biting 'midges', making sitting still a little more challenging :)
