Dead Horse Point

By the time we got to Dead Horse Point State Park, the sun was up top, and it was hazy. I didn't have much hope for a good shot. I wish we were there at the right time of day, but you can be at only one place at a time! I definitely would not trade the sunrise at Mesa Arch for this. Dead Horse Point is another one of those incredible Utah State Park vistas where the Green river bends around a mesa. It's very similar to Horseshoe Bend near Page, Arizona, where it's the Colorado river instead. This point also has an eerie history that it got its name from. Horses were left to die here out of thirst as they were looking down into the river, but couldn't drink the water.
