Marco Avellaneda (1813-1841) was an Argentine young politician, governor of the Province of Tucumán and father of the President Nicolás Avellaneda. In the Province of Salta he had the courage to confront Rosas’ tyranny, which cost him his life. He was beheaded by Rosas’ hired assassins in Metán (Salta).
