Personal Study
I am currently doing a personal study for my Photography A level course. My chosen hypothesis for this is 'How does fashion affect the surroundings?'. From this, you can guess I am focusing on Fashion Photography but I am also giving significance to surroundings, therefore landscape. I wish to experiment with the idea of 'natural' and 'artificial' portrayal of fashion photography. From doing so, I found that I was particularly intrigued by my edits using special effects on Photoshop for my initial 'artificial' photo shoot. This then lead me explore the idea of manipulating the model using a range of media e.g. photoshop manipulation, darkroom photography. Through this development, I feel that I created some intriguing outcomes, especially the ones showing the models silhouette with her surroundings physically inside her. For this, I used natural surroundings in order to play with the idea of the model being out of her comfort zone and again, the idea of her being manipulated. From this, using inspiration from Pierre Debusschere's photography, I plan to develop and finalise my ideas of 'artificiality' then leading to further development of my ideas for 'natural'.
