Identity
'Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.' - Oscar Wilde
Who are we? Are we truly individuals? These were some of the questions I asked myself before I created this photo. I attempted to question what individuality means and whether anyone actually is. When I observe the people around me I can see that there are followers and leaders, those who enjoy doing the things they love and those who do what others tell them to. What the scissors symbolise is that there is always a chance to break away from the common crowd, but sometimes we are scared to sever that connection with others because we are fear being different. We fear being judged by others if we decide not to do what 'everyone' is doing or what is considered to be the social norm.
I found this photo quite challenging during the shoot. I had to wrap the bandage around my face and could only see vague shapes through the gaps of the woven material. But with that said, it was a challenge I was willing to overcome. :)
