Alternative Focus On Erythromelalgia

Erythromelalgia is a relatively rare condition and it isn't understood what its cause is in many people. Often mistaken for other conditions including peripheral neuropathy, sufferers often struggle to get a diagnosis. Its impact can be massive. A common cause of the sometimes extreme pain is tepid to warm water, leading also to red hands, feet and sometimes also the face and ears. It normally also leads to substantial power loss in the limbs and general energy loss.

One of the biggest challenges as someone with the condition is trying to explain the symptoms, so some of my images try to give an alternative view. When the hands redden some sufferers get intense red patches and for me these are where the most pain in the hands are. With the whole area being red it is hard to show these intense areas of pain, so I have tried to adapt images to show these in a different way.
