1950 was a pivotal time with transition from disk to magnetic tape recording, it also marked the beginning of High Fidelity for the consumer.
FYI; The lady in plaid is most likely a model. Vintage magazines, especially magazines aimed at men, always and incongruously have woman on the cover as set decoration. Today women belong in technical and industrial work because they are welcomed there.
