De Rosse Gruto en de Scholekster beide op zoek naar eten.
De Rosse Grutto lijkt op de gewone Grutto, met dit verschil dat de snavel korter is, zichtbaar iets omhoog wipt en donker is.
Verder zijn de poten donkerder en korter, en is het lichaam compacter.
De Rosse Grutto boort in bodem naar ongewervelden, maar eet in het broedseizoen ook insecten en plantaardig materiaal.
Scholeksters zijn stevig gebouwde, zwart-witte steltlopers die vaak aan de kust, maar ook algemeen in het binnenland worden aangetroffen.
De snavel van de scholekster slijt hard maar groeit ook hard. Hij kan veranderen van vorm door het voedsel.
Zo wordt de snavel puntiger als een scholekster in de zomer naar emelten en wormen prikt.
De scholekster is onmiskenbaar.
Zwart-witte stevige steltloper met lange oranjerode snavel en roze poten.

The bar-tailed godwit resembles the common godwit, with the difference that the beak is shorter, visibly tilted slightly upwards and is dark.
