Remembering my Day as a "Santa Baby" Dancer
OK, let’s first say I’m a little out of my sweet spot as I speak today, even back then 5 years ago, I wasn’t a skinny mini.
But life is what it is and how you live it, so back then I was still living on a Becky high and decided maybe I was up to taking a real flyer.
I saw a local ad explaining a local gym was going to be having a fun holiday special where they would be choreographing a little dance routine to the famous song Santa Baby.
Their ad used a frame from the “famous”/ very cute 2014 K-Mart/Joe Boxer ad in which 5 attractive but very pregnant women did a little dance routine to “Santa Baby”. Here is a YouTube link (www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFUqAVC5sQU) to a copy of the commercial. If you haven’t seen it, it is worth a watch: Fun, clever, and really quite cute.
Anyways, the ad caught my eye and I decided to attend as Becky.
This is an outtake of a video clip, of me and several of the other women, I got while we were practicing the choreography.
Graceful artistry it probably wasn’t, but a wonderful and deeply felt experience it certainly was.
After two years of pandemic craziness, I wonder if I’ll ever get back to having experiences like these again. But today I’m just happy and remembering that I did.
I feel quite fortunate to have been able to live at least a little bit of my existence here on Earth, in such a unique and interesting way. So, few in the course of human history have gotten to really experience both sides of our human gender divide. We are all quite fortunate in that regard.
This was one of those wonderful days when I really felt I was there...on the other side... deep down to my bones. Quite a wonderful memory.
Be well, stay safe and I hope you all have a nice Holiday season.
Hugs, Becky
PS: It was also wonderful to be twinned with my beautiful partner here. She was 10 to 15 years my junior, but was nearly my height and our matching red and black outfits, made us ideal partners in the routine.
It would have been great fun to have followed this up with further adventures with them, but life is often complicated and finding all the time necessary is so often impossible. Keeping up with every thing else at that time was nearly impossible. But I’m so glad I took the leap when I did.
As with life in general, did everything go as perfectly as planned and hoped, No, but it was equally or even more wonderful in how it did turn out. And as they say, “Practice makes Perfect”.
Enjoy your practice. : )
