Back to album

Well it finally happened…

Becky made a public appearance…the first in person appearance in 15 months.

And this is what pandemic hair done right, looks like.

I’m very fortunate to have a personal, live-in, personal hair stylist and she has been known to be able to make a rat’s nest, look quite fabulous, so all of that styling praise goes to her.

As for me, I got to rock my long, femme styled hair at least once before I’m likely to get it trimmed back to a length closer to my typical recent style. And yes, just for the record that is my natural hair at the moment.

I was quite nervous and apprehensive getting out again, something I had gotten passed some time ago, but it had been 15 months and I had felt rather out sorts my last time out too.

I was pleasantly surprised that I fit in a pair of tight white jeans although maybe not as easily as I might have liked.

I tried on a few dresses and other outfits the night before looking for something I might feel comfortable wearing.

After trying a few things that were OK, but that I was not really happy with, my sweetie suggested maybe a pair of white jeans with one of her pink blouses.

I tried it on it, I was quite surprised when the jeans fit, tight but wearable. The kicker was when she said, “I (she) usually try to avoid this look, but they do sort of give you that “Camel toe” look.”

I decided I could go with that.

My make up skills were OK, but its always better if I can just take my time and not be rushed. I did surprising get both lashes on, in the first attempt and without any messes. My mascara was a bit harder actually.

(Editorial Note: I would recommend new make up for everyone, especially products used around your eyes, if they have been sitting since last year. Or at least removing the top layer of product before using. Some of bacteria living there would be more than happy to call your nice moist eyes a new home, if you let them. You don’t want to start your new year with a bad case of pink eye.)

Anyways I did a little shopping and I eventually felt fairly comfortable again. It’s a starting point.

I joined a group of my long-time local friends at a local restaurant for a 30th anniversary party for the group. I joined 9 years ago (just as they turned 21, I try to avoid underage drinking…).

It was quite nice to see and even hug a few of my longtime friends again. By then my hair was not as nice and “just out of the box” as in this picture, but looking a little wind blown was the least of my concerns by then.

It was a good first day back and I hope everyone can make that journey again soon.

Life is too short to live it all in the closest.

Be well and take care.

PS Things are looking much better around here with respect to COVID19, my local area has over 75% of adults with at least one vaccination. Case rates and deaths are way down and I’ve been fully vaccinated for more than a few weeks now. Please practice caution and safe practices if you or your area are still in the grips of the pandemic as there are still tens of thousands of folks who will die in our countries before we get this pandemic back under control again.

And now I have to get back to work…
