The velvet bolete or variegated bolete (Suillus variegatus), is a species of edible mushroom in the genus Suillus. Like all bolete-like species it has tubes, and pores, instead of gills under its cap. The mushroom forms a mycorrhizal relationship with pine and occurs in North America and Eurasia. It appears in late summer. It is often found with heathers, and other acid loving plants, on sandy soils. The velvet bolete is edible and good for pickling.

Maślak pstry (Suillus variegatus) – gatunek grzybów należący do rodziny maślakowatych (Suillaceae), znany też pod nazwami: bagniak, jakubek, piasecznik. Jest szeroko rozpowszechniony w Europie Środkowej, ale występuje także w Ameryce Północnej, Południowej i Japonii. W Polsce jest pospolity. Owocniki wyrastają od lata do jesieni, w lasach iglastych, szczególnie pod sosnami, na wrzosowiskach i w miejscach wilgotnych. Grzyb jadalny średniej wartości. Dobry do marynowania.
