Red-capped scaber stalk (Leccinum aurantiacum), is a species of fungus in the genus Leccinum. It is found in forests of Europe, North America and Asia and has a large, characteristically red-capped fruiting body. Leccinum aurantiacum can be found fruiting during summer and autumn in forests throughout Europe and North America. The association between fungus and host tree is mycorrhizal. This is a favorite species for eating and can be prepared as other edible boletes.

Najliczniejsze stanowiska tego grzyba znane są w Ameryce Północnej i Europie, ale występuje także w Ameryce Środkowej i Japonii. Występuje w lasach i zaroślach, wyłącznie pod topolą osiką. Owocniki wytwarza od czerwca do października. Grzyb jadalny, smaczny, nadaje się zwłaszcza do duszenia, marynowania a także do suszenia.
