Goodbye Masca!
The last view from the village Masca on mountains around and we'll be going back to our hotel :)
Masca is a small mountain village on the island of Tenerife. The village is home to around 90 inhabitants. The village lies at an altitude of 650 m in the Macizo de Teno mountains, which extend up to the northwesternmost point of Tenerife. Its location is stunning and because it is quite difficult to get to on a road full of tight hairpin bends it has been relatively undiscovered until recent years. Indeed there wasn't a road at all before 1991 and led to Masca being known as the 'forgotten village'. Masca is the most beautiful village on Tenerife and its houses appear to cling onto the edge of the rocky mountainside on which it is built. As well as the deep ravines and dramatic views the surrounding vegetation is lush and adds to the beauty of the site. The village lies at the head of the Masca Gorge. The trail from the village down the gorge to the beach on the Atlantic Ocean is a popular, though strenuous, hiking route, which takes about 3 hours each way.

Masca – wieś w gminie Buenavista del Norte na Teneryfie. Miejscowość leży na wysokości 650 m n.p.m. w masywie górskim Teno i daje początek wąwozowi o tej samej nazwie, który biegnie do plaży położonej wśród klifów Los Gigantes. W latach 60. XX wieku można ją było zwiedzić docierając do niej na wynajętym osiołku. Wzmożony ruch turystyczny rozpoczął się w latach 70. po wybudowaniu drogi od strony Santiago del Teide. Wioska posiada niewiele zabudowań (architektura kanaryjska). Masca jest uważana za najpiękniejszą wioskę na Teneryfie, a jej domy wydają się przylegać do krawędzi skalistego zbocza góry, na której jest zbudowana. Oprócz głębokich wąwozów i spektakularnych widoków otaczająca ją roślinność jest bujna i dodaje uroku temu miejscu. Z powodu położenia i otoczenia, Masca jest jednym z najbardziej popularnych miejsc na Teneryfie, do których organizowane są wycieczki fakultatywne. Podobnie wąwóz Masca jest miejscem częstych wędrówek trekkingowych i ze swą unikalną fauną i florą znajduje się w czołówce najbardziej uczęszczanych szlaków na Teneryfie.
