Bukowina Tatrzańska is located in Podhale, in Tatry Poviat, close to the border with Slovakia. It is situated at the altitude of 860-1000 m above sea level. The nearby city is Zakopane, which is located 15 km to the south-west. Bukowina is a well known winter sports resort with about 20 ski lifts, a lot of ski runs and lit slopes. The first reference to Bukowina Tatrzańska appeared in the 17th century. The village originated as the result of gradual inhabiting the Tatras forest. After felling the trees and back burning, a farm or a few farms were built in the remote forest; then, the boundaries of the settlement were demarcated to be approved and written in the real estate register. Craft and industry were developing at the same time. A few mills, shingle shops and sawmills were operating. Also such craftsmen as carpenters, joiners, heelwright and shoemakers were working in the village. Today the tourists can find here the possibility of contact with the real Tatra folklore and surely will relish the delicious regional food. In the village are many wooden houses built in regional style. In December 2008 in Bukowina were opened thermal pools “Terma Bukowina” - ne of the largest and most modern object of this kind in Europe. Bukowina Tatrzanska is famous for beautiful views of the Tatras and clear air.

Bukowina Tatrzańska – wieś podhalańska w Polsce położona w województwie małopolskim, w powiecie tatrzańskim. Bukowina Tatrzańska leży na wysokości od 860 do ponad 1000 m n.p.m. Pierwsze wzmianki na temat Bukowiny Tatrzańskiej pochodzą z XVII wieku. W dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym następuje przekształcenie wsi z rolniczo-pasterskiej w wieś turystyczną. Położona na trasie z Poronina do Łysej Polany. Obecnie duży ośrodek turystyczno-wypoczynkowy. Rozbudowana baza noclegowa. Stacja sportów zimowych, liczne małe wyciągi narciarskie, w tym popularny ośrodek Olczański Wierch ze Stacją Turnia, dysponującą wyciągiem krzesełkowym. W grudniu 2008 otwarto kompleks rekreacyjny Terma Bukowina. W miejscowości znajduje się szereg drewnianych pensjonatów z okresu międzywojennego, wybudowanych w stylu inspirowanym stylem witkiewiczowskim (inaczej w stylu zakopiańskim). Bukowina Tatrzańska słynie też z pięknych widoków na Tatry i czystego powietrza.
