COLOUR THE EMPTY SPACE
A pre sunrise image from a few mornings back
It was an exceedingly cold morning and we arrived in the dark, not really knowing if any colour would appear
The sunrise isn't ideally suited to the pier at this time of year but at low tide gives an opportunity to capture the posts
I've walked this stretch of beach since being a child and many things have changed over the years, some good some not so.
I remember as a child asking my mam why so many dead fish, doggers (small crabs) were washed up along the shoreline
The sand felt crusted under my small bare feet, cracking on impact. Those were the days of Steetley Magnesium who operated from up above the sand dunes, now a new housing estate
The waters here can be treacherous and over the years there have been several deaths
We regularly walked our dog Whiskey who would chase after the seagulls, never tiring
I'd paint pictures on the sand, using whatever I could find, so many happy memories
Where have all those years gone?
