FMcslides2200 71000 Rugby
Rugby in December 1961 with the long gone AEI factory in the background, and Riddles 4-6-2 71000 Duke of Gloucester is on a down passenger service.
The loco was new to BR in May 1954 to replace 46202 which was scrapped after the Harrow Accident. It only survived in service until November 1962 and was then stored at Crewe Works for 5 years before being sent to Barry. Rescued from Barry in 1974 the loco returned to steam in 1986 and restoration and a few modifications. After a recent overhaul the loco is back in steam and undergoing main line testing after a spell of test running on the SVR.
