TRIBUTE.................
25303 and 25278 head the Great Western Society 'John Mynors Memorial Train' into Bewdley on 14-9-80
There followed a return trip to Bridgnorth with 2857.
5051 had started the trip from Paddington to Banbury I think and later hauled the train back to Paddington by the same loco [not sure from where!?].
John Mynors rescued four steam locomotives from the scrapyard and was an active member of the Great Western Society and the Caerphilly Railway Society. He planted many trees in his corner of Warwickshire to replace those destroyed by Dutch elm disease. He died suddenly on 31 March 1979, aged 57 years. Amongst the locos rescued 7808 Cookham Manor was withdrawn from service in December 1965 and purchased directly from BR.
My wife and I moved to Worcester in 1979 and 1980 was not a year for a great amount of photography purchasing our first very run down house in the November of 79. Mostly it was a matter of taking the occasional shot on an afternoon out.
The SVR public service did not open to Kidderminster until 30-7-84!
