Stacking Up
The Asarco smokestacks, idle for years, were the tallest in Texas. They had been for decades an El Paso landmark. The one at left was 612 feet (184 m) tall and the one at right, further away, was 828 feet (248 m) tall.
Both stacks were demolished with explosives on April 13, 2013. View from the entrance to the Asarco site.
