117325 Bombey Mumbai India Jewish Magen Hassidim Synagogue

The Magen Hassidim Synagogue was formerly known as the Jacob Circle Jewish New Prayer Hall, and was built in 1904. A separate plot of land was acquired at the nearby site in Madarpura, the Synagogue building was completed and opened in 1931. Most Jewish marriages and Bar Mitzvaha's are solemnized in this Synagogue. Only Bene Israel carpenters were employed for the wood work in the sacred edifice, and they gave their services free. The Synagogue is large enough for a congregation of 1,000 and has a pleasant exterior and interior design.
