Adult humpback whales range in length from 12–16 metres and weigh approximately 25-30 tons. The varying patterns on the tail flukes are sufficient to identify individual humpback whales. Humpback whales are generally curious about objects in their environments and since they are often easily approachable they are a common sight in whale-watching tours .
