Jökulsárgljúfur
View from Vígabjarg towards Réttarfoss waterfall in Jökulsárgljúfur, Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland.
Hólmatungur area is right across the river which in this area runs through a narrow gorge called Katlar ("the kettles"). In Katlar the Jökulsá river channel narrows greatly with rapids and giant vortexes, as if the river were a boiling kettle. It is in stark contrast to the quiet and cristal clear spring water streams coming from underground ravines in Hólmatungur.
