Abbaye de Silvacane
Silvacane Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery in the municipality of La Roque-d'Anthéron in Provence, France. The monastery was founded around 1144 and is set in a peaceful wooded area near a crossing point of the river Durance and facing the foothills of the Luberon.
It is one of the three Cistercian abbeys in Provence known as the “three sisters of Provence” (“les trois soeurs provençales”), the other two being Sénanque Abbey and Le Thoronet Abbey.
The church and other buildings are no longer used for religious purposes, they are open to the public and make a spectacular backdrop for cultural events.
