Juan Standing Guard in La Florida's Sun...

When Juan, Juan Ponce de Leon, landed near St Augustine on April 2, 1513, he called this place "La Florida". This is Spanish for "flowery", "covered with flowers"or "abounding in flowers". The landing also occurred during the Easter time celebration of Spain called "Pascua Florida", the Feast of Flowers !

Today this former Governor of Puerto Rico and Explorer for Spain, stands guard at the Northern Gateway of St Augustine, FL. Two statues depict Juan as the Conquistador striking poses in La Florida's Sun. Located on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, US 1 in America's oldest city.

This is my own interpretation of the Facts of this history which has many versions.
