L'Orignal is a Franco-Ontarian village. The seigneury was granted to F. Prevost in 1674.
The L'Orignal Court House is the oldest court house in Ontario, and the oldest continuously used municipal facility in the Province. The 1825 stone building is representative of the Loyalist Ne0-Classical style.
