233/366: Argeles-sur-Mer
Day 233 (Holiday 4/18): Monday 20/8 and I unsurprisingly woke late around 8am. The weather was cloudy but still hothothot. So up late means out late-morning having enjoyed a plain porridge breakfast (perfect for roasting hot mornings). We had a short run to the beach or so we thought because it was a minor nightmare drive through Argeles Plage with loads of traffic and people wandering into the road. We didn't really know where to go either so a couple of dead ends were followed before we finally found a beach deemed Acceptable. So I settled for few hours in the chair borrowed from holiday house (mouldy, yes, but functional) under a golf brolly. We enjoyed good sarnies (cheese and tomato - well we are on holiday) and after lunch I tried dozing under brolly though Wife doesn't seem to like this as she kept talking to me. Back into town for shopping at tiny supermarket which we could actually find because it was on the main road then back to flat for showers and pasta. Couldn't get parked near flat so I dropped everyone off then drove round town trying to park, settling on the hill top car park in the road into town. It was only a five minute walk back to the flat though the short section with no footpath would be very hairy in the dark I did survive. After tea walked into town to see sunset and view harbour. All quite pleasant and still some people on the beach, I guess because it was still quite warm. After an age of deliberation, Son decides to have a crepe freshly made with tons of toffee and chocolate sauces which quickly turns messy and then Daughter joins him. Messy crepes and Wife has ice cream and we walk home in the near dark being pleasantly surprised how little insect grief there is. I wash up dishes and then bed.
Today's photo is what it's all about! Warm, sunny blue sky and water. We ended up on the beach somewhere in the far distance of this shot, in one of the less developed bits. The kids love beaches, I hate them, but on holiday I try to not complain too much as long as I've got a chair and sun shade I'm ok.
