Gothic Dam
Built in a neo-gothic style, construction on Derwent Dam was started in 1904 and completed in 1914 when the reservoir began to fill with water. Along with Ladybower below and Howden above, the three reservoirs hold enough water to supply many major cities in the north. Most famously, the dam was used by the Dam Busters to practice their raids with the bouncing bomb, designed by Barnes Wallis during WWII to destroy German Dams.
