Assassin Fly (Empis tesselata) ?

I'm not totally convinced I'm right though, so if any entomologists out there are able to correct me, please feel free ...

 

If I am right then this actually catches other flies (sometime in flight!) and then sucks them dry. Ahh, nature's cruel beauty.
