A passenger steam train Ukko-Pekka in Lahti

Summer 2016.

Höyryjuna Ukko-Pekka Lahdessa (elokuu v.2016).

**********

The nickname of the locomotive "Ukko-Pekka" means approximately "(respected) Grandpa Pekka", after the President of Finland Pehr Evind Svinhufvud (third President of Finland from 1931 to 1937).

The locomotive was built in Finland for coal firing, but during the coal shortage after the war in 1945, birch wood was used as fuel.
