Perceptions, Misperceptions, and Other (Im)Possibles

Rose Frantzen’s work examines how society influences the concept of identity. Perceptions, Misperceptions, and Other (Im)Possibles is a collection of large-scale figurative paintings that explore the journey of representation that began with art history and remains in how we convey individuality in the digital age. Frantzen creates serial and allegorical artworks that incorporate a multi-dimensional style that is both realistic and transcendent. These paintings address the spaces we inhabit within history, memory and culture so that we might recognize the distinction between what we convey and how we are portrayed.
