Echinopsis 'Oriole'
I wasn't the best I could be yesterday. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. I just failed to live up to the expectations I hold for myself, and I was frustrated with me.
So, imagine the delight and surprise I experienced today when I walked outside and saw these two beautiful cactus blooms on my front porch. I was comforted, energized and inspired all at the same time.
People put their faith in all different kinds of things. Mine is in the Creator of the universe ... the Living God. He's my Father, my forgiver and my best friend. He's kind to me when I'm not kind to myself, and He inspires me every day to do my best to treat everyone I encounter compassionately and respectfully ... the way He treats me. It's not always easy, but I can't think of a more rewarding way to live.
Sometimes when we're struggling, we just need some flowers. I did. So while I was sleeping, He opened up these.
They are Echinopsis 'Oriole'. This cactus is one of the ISI Schick Hybrids produced at Huntington Botanical Gardens in California. They are complex, delicate and stunningly beautiful. They don't last long, so if you give them a try, have your camera ready.
Oh, and try to be a flower in someone's complicated, frustrating world today. It just takes a little time and energy, and it's a very beautiful thing to do.
