Which means:- "(This) monument, remarkable in terms of religion and art, had weakened from age:
Pius the Seventh, Supreme Pontiff,
by new works on the model of the ancient exempler
ordered it reinforced and preserved.
*In the year of his sacred rulership the 24th*
Built by Domitian to celebrate the exploits of Titus, victory over the Jews and despoiler of Jerusalem, who is shown in the panels hat decorate the interior side walls of the single archway. Titus is portrayed in triumph, crowned by Victory and riding on a quadriga led by the goddess Rome and preceded by the most important Roman officials, in a procession carrying the spoils from Solomon's Temple to Rome.
