Spindle City

There actually is a Spindle City … it’s the nickname of Cohoes, N.Y., where massive textile mills harnessed the power of the Mohawk River at the site of a major waterfall. Those mills were spinning cotton, though, not silk, which was the business of this place in Maryland.
