Takumar 55mm f2.2

One of the earliest M42 Takumar lenses, made from 1957.

It has a preset mechanism, 10 blades, with 5 elements in 5 groups in a Gaussian design.

Other fast fifties produced by Pentax (Takumar) at this time include a Sonnar design 58mm f2; a Heliar type 58mm f2.4; and the elusive 55mm f1.8 preset lens with a Gaussian (Ultron) design.

These were followed later (from 1958) by the Auto-Takumars.

A comparison of the different Takumars found that the Takumar 55mm f2.2 has "stunning center performance" and that's my experience to date too.
