Smile! The great Takumar 55mm lenses

A collection of Takumar 55's. These lenses are still relatively inexpensive and always make me smile. The quality of the photos they produce is exceptional even by today's standards. Its no exaggeration to say they are among the greatest film-era M42 lenses.

The SMC on the left is probably the best optically IMO. It cost me $40 a couple of years ago. Its very, very sharp, with great colours/contrast, and a joy to use...just like the others only a tad better. The most interesting bokeh comes from the 10 bladed Auto-Takumars, the three in the middle (f2.2, f1.8 and f2 l-r). They have a different set-up to the next generation, early 1960s Super-Takumars. The most valuable is the Zebra in the middle. It took me years to find one...not because its pricey (not compared to new primes) but it is rare...a rare piece of history worth waiting for.

Plus a contemporary yellow filter - not needed with digital cameras and post processing.
