Pyrausta inornatalis (Inornate Pyrausta Moth), Crambidae family

Southwest 10.19.2017

"Pyrausta (also called pyrallis (πυραλλίς), pyragones) is a mythological insect-sized dragon from Cyprus. It resembles a four-legged insect with filmy wings and a dragon's head. It lived in the fire like a salamander and died if it went away from the fire."

"The forewings are uniform light vinous (wine colored) red or reddish pink. The hindwings are pale fuscous, but paler at the base and with vinous red along the outer margin."
