View from Sandcastle
Near the top of a lateral glacier moraine we affectionately call "The Sandcastle" overlooking the Healy Ridge in Healy, Alaska. Denali National Park lies on the other side of the Healy Ridge. The sediment is constantly eroding from the Sandcastle and rock slides are very common. The valley I climbed to reach this point was unstable and I was forced off the mountain by a heavy rainstorm and high winds. The colors of the rocks and sediment make you think you're on the surface of a distant planet rather than a dry riverbed on Earth.
