Twenty One Pilots
Finale
My daughter asked me to go with her to the Twenty One Pilots concert. I had no idea what a spectacle I was in for. But she gave me a clue when she told me that at some point there was going to be a burning car on stage. "A BURNING CAR ?????", I asked. Can that even be legal? Sure enough, the performance opened with a burning car on stage. I was totally impressed by the light show, by the fact that the entire audience (except for me) knew the lyrics of all the songs and sang along - even the rap songs. I was also impressed by the creativity of it all and how well done everything was. My daughter tried to get me ready by having me listen to a dozen songs before the concert. I told her that I thought it was good, but it wasn't The Beatles. At the end they brought the warm-up bands out and everyone sang "Hey Jude" together. My daughter was elbowing me in the ribs. I had to admit that they had everything including The Beatles. My one regret was that I couldn't bring a better camera, but there were signs at the entrance prohibiting cameras of any kind except cell phones. As someone who likes photography, you can't let a spectacle like this go. As they say, the best camera is the one you have with you, so I used my cell phone. Wish the pictures were better. It was the best I could do under the circumstances.
This was also the first large venue experience I've ever had where everyone had to pass through a metal detector. An understandable but sad commentary on the times.
