John Rylands Library, Manchester

Interior of the magnificent gothic John Rylands Library in Manchester. I am ashamed to say that in my 39 years of living in Manchester area, this is my first visit to the library. It is built in beautiful red and pink cumbrian sandstone.

John Rylands was a cotton king, and the library was built in his memory by his wife and opened to the public on 1st January 1900
